Troubleshooting

Please scan the barcode “Speed 05” found on page 12 of the scanner manual (not the laminated system instructions), 5 times. This ensures that it is set. This needs to be done while the system is up and running.

If the video display is not displaying correctly. Unplug the system and reinsert the power cord. This is normally caused when the Pyro Salesman system receives power before it is plugged into the TV.

  1. Make sure the HDMI cord is plugged into the HDMI 0 port in the unit not the HDMI 1 port.
  2. Unplug the system and reinsert the power cord. This is normally caused when the Pyro Salesman system receives power before it is plugged into the TV.
  3. Plug the system into another TV to see if there is a compatibility issue with the TV.

If a video that is on the flash drive is not playing, it has most likely not been added to the system. Use the "To Add a Video to the Pyro Salesman" system instructions to add it and make it playable.

DON'T plug the scanner charger cord into the system. Please use a wall charger for it instead. Using the system can lead to low voltage to the system and cause corruption of the micro SD card.

Ensure the scanner's wireless dongle is inserted into The Pyro Salesman system.

If you hear a double beep when pulling the trigger, it means either the wireless dongle is not inserted or the scanner you're using is incompatible.

This is most likely because the flash drive was removed and re-inserted into the unit. This causes the program to lose focus because another program is open in the background.

Unplug the power cord from the system and reinsert it. This should clear up the issue.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do with the system to compensate for this issue. We recommend printing a barcode for the item and placing it on a card under the product. You can use http://www.barcode-generator.org to generate and print a barcode. We recommend starting the barcode with a number other than "0"

Adding Videos

We support the following video types:

  • .avi
  • .mov
  • .mkv
  • .mp4 (1080p or less)
  • .mp4
  • Most videos encoded with H.264 video codec

It is best to save all the videos that you wish to add to your system to a folder on your computer. This will allow you to copy them to all the flash drives quickly, either into the "VIDEOS/videos/New" folder or the "VIDEOS/videos" folder. Detailed instructions are listed below:

  1. Shut down the system.
  2. Remove the flash drive from the unit and insert it into the computer.
  3. Save the video file to the “VIDEOS/videos/New” folder on the flash drive.
  4. Remove the flash drive from your computer and reinsert it into “The Pyro Salesman” video playback system.
  5. Turn on the power to the unit.
  6. After the system starts playing the "Playback Loop", scan the "Add a Video To The System" barcode.
  7. The system should go to a black screen prompting you to answer if wish to add the video to the system.
  8. Scan the “Yes” to add the video to the system. The system will prompt you to scan the barcode for this video. Scan the barcode and the video will play. This will copy the file to the "VIDEOS/videos" folder and remove it from the "VIDEOS/videos/New" folder.
  9. Scan the "NO" barcode if you don't want to add the video at this time.

The system will repeat steps 7 through 9 for each video in the "VIDEOS/videos/New" folder.

Connect to our Dropbox account and pull down each vendor's video for each year you select. This will update the database entries and copy the files to the flash drive. There are multiple years for most vendors. Select what you need and repeat the process if needed. Below are the step by step instructions on how to do this.

  1. Ensure the system is connected to the internet.
  2. Scan the "download" barcode
  3. Ignore any error message, these will appear while downloading, unzipping and loading the files.
  4. After it completes the updates of vendor records, the system will display a black box and prompt you to scan "YES", "NO" or "DONE" for each vendor. NOTE: Selecting "DONE" will stop prompting you about the vendors and each year and will begin the process of downloading the videos and adding them to the flash drive.
  5. Please wait for the system to finish. When it is done it will automatically go back to playing the play loop.

Absolutely! You may return the unit and the flash drive to us to have updates and additional videos added to your systems. We request that $20 be included to cover the cost of return shipping once the updates are completed. You keep the scanner, scanner dongle, and wiring.

You will receive this error when the barcode for the product has already been associated with a video.

  1. When you return to the loop, scan the product barcode. If you see the message "VIDEO IS MISSING FOR THIS BARCODE" then the barcode is in the system but most likely with another barcode.
  2. You may scan the "REMOVE ITEM FROM SYSTEM" barcode on page 5 of the instructions. This will NOT delete the video.
  3. Follow the "ADD A VIDEO TO THE SYSTEM" on page 4 of the instructions to try to add the video again.

Other Questions

  1. Follow the instructions in the "Update The Pyro Salesman System Code" on the "Download Vendor Videos & Code" page.
  2. This will only update the system's code and does NOT update any videos or barcode information.
  3. Upgrading to version v13 from a previous version requires manually stopping the system and copy files. Version "v13" and above is simpler. If your version is "v4" or older, you will need to send the unit to me and I will have to update it for you. Send us a message on the CONTACT US page.

If you have downloaded and installed version 14 or above, then scan the "systeminfo" barcode. This will show you the current version on the screen.

All other versions:

  1. Scan the "Cancel" barcode.
  2. Click on the "File Manager" icon on the Command Bar (3rd icon from the upper left side).
  3. Scroll down until you see the "/home/pi/python" folder.
  4. Click the folder and on the right you should see "pyrosalesman_vXX" - the "XX" is your current version.

No! The system is self-contained and does not need an internet connection to work.
